Get ready, hockey friends — the Busselton Masters Carnival is just around the corner!

This much-loved annual event brings together teams from across WA — aged from  "nearly forty” to  the mature forever “young” seniors — for a weekend of hockey, laughs, and catching up with mates. Time to spray on the deep heat, stretch those calves, and maybe even test your fitness running up the ramp to the bar! 🍻

From “Chicks with Sticks” to “Run Like the Winded” (and that’s just the team names!), the weekend promises plenty of fun on and off the field.

• Canteen: Serving your favourite energy boosters all weekend

• Bar: Open daily into the evening for post-game catch-ups

🏑 First Game

• 7.40am Saturday 11 October 2025, Busselton Hockey Stadium, Vasse Highway

🏆 A Carnival with History

• The event began back in 1990 as a Men’s Veterans Carnival.

• In 1999, women’s teams joined the fun, and it has since grown into one of WA’s biggest Masters carnivals.

• Today, the carnival averages 40+ teams, across 7 divisions (Over 35s, Over 45s, Over 50s), with some players still competing well into their 60s and 70s.  Each team may include up to two underage players (within two years of the age category minimum).

• Teams don’t just come to play hockey — they stay, socialise, and enjoy the beautiful Busselton region. Many return year after year, drawn back by the camaraderie and welcoming atmosphere.

On the line are:

• Team trophies for each competition, and

• The coveted, hand-made wooden hockey sticks, donated years ago by a Life Member, now proudly featured in countless team photos.

Come down and enjoy a weekend of great hockey in a relaxed, social setting. With our canteen, bar, and some of the best playing grounds in the state (judging by the rave reviews!), it’s set to be another fantastic carnival.
